  Called on a Saturday, to find out what they were paying for Krugerrands. The girl asked me what was the mint year, I replied '82. She said they won't take any before 1966 as after that they weren't pure gold. Krugerrands were first minted in 1967. And as everyone who knows anything about gold coins all coins are gold alloyed with other metals. A Krugerrand is 1 troy ounce of 24 karat gold.

  I came to the kiosk on Rodeo Road at the mall. The gentleman was very nice, but even with a 20% coupon, my jewelry payout was much less than I was quoted at two spots in Albuquerque, both on Menaul. He was incorrect about an 18kt gold ring and said it had no value, and told me my 14kt gold ring was only 10kt. So, I am glad I did not sell my things there. Shop around at more than one place is the best advice I can give.
